ABOUT JOANA:

 

     Joana is a NYC based actor and director.  She hails from Short Creek, West Virginia, where she was surrounded by the deep Greek-American and Appalachian roots of her family.  She earned her BFA in Acting from Shenandoah Conservatory, where she studied under LAByrinth Theater's Scott Hudson, Martha Wollner, and Padraic Lillis.  Joana most loves deep collaboration and exploring the connections between language and the human experience. 

 

   Some of her work as an actor include: Irina in Three Sisters under the direction of Talia Feldberg, Clara in the new play The Barista, written and directed by Arseniy Fariatiev, Malcolm in Macbeth at The Tank directed by Avery Sedlacek, and her Off- Broadway debut as Kaliope in She Kills Monsters at Theatre Row.

 

     Some of her work as a director include: directing the musical cabaret Forever Miscast: A Night with Megan Chacalos with the historic Oglebay Institute, assisting directing for such directors as Johanna McKeon, Dara Malina, and Chris Murrah and directing a reading of the new play Campaign by artist Raul Martinez at the White Box art gallery in NYC.  Currently Joana is assistant directing The Boys From Syracuse Benefit Concert with Director Jesse Berger at Red Bull Theater.
